Spotted in Cameroon: A few congressional staffers spending some time with Mandy Moore. A delegation from the Hill joined the pop singer, who’s a PSI ambassador, to learn about a nationwide initiative to combat malaria with insecticide-treated mosquito nets. Seated next to Moore (a brunette these days) in the photo is Nothing But Nets director Chris Helfrich.

The congressional delegation included: Steven Shearer, chief of staff for Rep. Aaron Schock; Michael Shank, communications director and senior policy advisor for Rep. Mike Honda; Julie Nickson, chief of staff for Rep. Barbara Lee; Jessica J. Lee, senior legislative assistant for Rep. Jim McDermott; Jenn Holcomb, legislative assistant for Rep. Betty McCollum; Richard Hudson, chief of staff to Rep. Michael Conaway; and Rachel Dresen, legislative director for Rep. Ben Quayle.

“For what I pay every day for lunch at Longworth House Office Building cafeteria, I can save two lives in Cameroon from deadly malaria, which kills a significant portion of this country’s population each year,” Shank reflected on the experience.

The trip was paid for by the Humpty Dumpty Institute, the U.N. Foundation and the Nothing But Nets campaign.
